We are proud to partner with one of Canada's leading health grocery retailer - Bosa Food! Come and check out our exquisite selection of fine Italian foods for your family to enjoy!

BOSA FOODS was founded in 1957 by Augusto Bosa who recognized a need for traditional Italian food in the lower mainland. The History of BOSA FOODS is part of the Lower Mainland’s history.

A pioneer of his time, in the 1940’s Augusto Bosa began to import Italian specialty food into Powell River where there were a large number of Italian immigrants working in the mines and the lumber and pulp mills. Sourcing and bringing the finest and sometimes most obscure traditional Italian products to the Italian community gave the community a feeling of home.

In 1957, Augusto Bosa then brought his business to Vancouver, pledging to continue to import traditional Italian specialty food products and service the growing Italian community in Vancouver. Bosa Foods continues the work of Augusto Bosa today, servicing a larger demographic, but committed to the same purpose – to bring true Italian cuisine to your table.

Fagioli – Beans

The Italian name fagioli refers to the many varietals of beans native to Italy. Among these beans, cannellini, borlotti, and red kidney beans are quite common and found in many traditional Venetian-style dishes. Many other traditional varieties of beans are available at Bosa Foods as well, including: lupini beans, lentils, black beans, bean medley, fava beans, borlotti beans (similar to pinto), and many others. Offering a vast array of dry and preserved beans separates Bosa Foods from the rest.

In the Beans & Grains product category, Bosa Foods is proud to offer a selection of farro grain, flour, durum wheat semolina flour, and “00” flour. Make polenta with a number of varieties of cornmeal, or try cous cous. Other healthy Bean & Grain options at Bosa Foods include quinoa (white, red, or black) which is high in fibre and many vitamins and minerals, but low in fat and carbohydrates.

Pomodori - Tomatoes

Tomatoes and tomato products are prominent ingredients in many Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Bosa Foods offers a number of brands of tomato products in 796mL and 2.84L sizes from traditional peeled tomatoes to organic tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, and D.O.P. San Marzano tomatoes.

San Marzano D.O.P. tomatoes are grown in Campania and are widely used for pizza; in fact, only San Marzano D.O.P. tomatoes can be used to make real Napolitana pizza. Protected by strict E.U. agricultural regulations (each can of tomatoes is required to have a unique number and the specific San Marzano D.O.P. stamp), these tomatoes are more oblong in shape and delicate in nature. The labor used to train the vines and hand pick the ripe tomatoes are what cause this product to be precious and expensive. For an authentic Italian pizza or pasta sauce, pick up some San Marzano D.O.P. tomatoes at Bosa Foods today!
